One of the things that kept me sane during the 13 months in which I never left my condo, was the antics of the wildlife visible outside my window. In March, shortly after my one-year quarantinaversary, a friend asked me if there had "been any interesting activity?" I converted my email response to her into the diamond shape poem,
"Watching the Wetlands".
A month after she asked the question that inspired it, I sent the poem to
VoiceCatcher -- an online journal that supports, inspires, and empowers trans and cis women writers and artists in the greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington areas -- for consideration. Within three weeks
"Watching the Wetlands" was accepted for the
Spring 2021 issue.
